Poetry in Print Exhibition Opening

Prints & Poetry Exhibition Opening

The Trio Art Studio and Gallery will be presenting an exhibition of original Prints showcasing a partnership between images and the written word, created by a group of artists who explore traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques, illustrating their original poetry by using the written word in their designs.  The exhibition will also display works inspired by other writers with a unique perspective on their writings.

On Sunday 7th April from 2-5pm, our Opening Event provides a performance by the Myron Lysenko and the Black Forest Smoke Band. Bookings are essential at $25 per person.

Myron Lysenko

Has been poet-in-residence in over one thousand schools since 1989, conducting poetry writing workshops up and down the East coast of Australia. His poetry and haiku have featured on television and radio, in newspapers, magazines, journals and anthologies. Myron is the convenor of the Chamber Poets readings in Woodend.

BLACK FOREST SMOKE

Black Forest Smoke formed in 2013 to provide a musical component at Chamber Poets, a monthly spoken word event held in the Woodend RSL.

Local musicians David Crosbie, Brendan Tyrrell and Michael Robinson compose and play the compelling background for Myron Lysenko’s witty, disarming, image-based poetry. It’s an eclectic blend of spoken word and song with a bluesy, country, folky feel.

In 2017 Black Forest Smoke released an EP It’s Alright. Two of their compositions were also published on a CD poetry anthology released by Collective Effort Press.

The band is currently preparing material for their first album. They specialise in performing at festivals, parties, art galleries, poetry readings, book launches and other cultural events.
