Join us in Kyneton at The Trio Art Studio and Gallery
Felt is the oldest form of fabric known to mankind. The method of making felt has changed little over time, it is done by applying water, soap or fat, heat and friction to layers of animal fibre which create the matted fabric known as felt.
In this workshop, over two days you will create your own stunning A5 journal cover using the age-old techniques of felting and embroidery.
Day 1: Using the Nuno felting** method you will work on a woollen pre-felt with fine merino wool in your choice of colours to create a textured felt background for your journal cover.
Day 2: Embellish and personalise your felt using your choice of wool, embroidery threads, beads, buttons and found objects. * Trim and glue your felt onto the blank A5 journal provided. Add further details eg; ties.
This journal makes a wonderful gift for yourself or someone special.
This class is suitable for both beginners and those with experience.
All materials are included in the cost of this workshop.
* A selection of buttons, beads and found objects will be provided but, if you would like to, bring your own selection to add to your work.
** Nuno Felting with this method of felting you create a lightweight felt by bonding your fibres into another fabric such as a pre-felt or silk.
